Wilma R. Ogles

Wilma Ruth Corneila Ogles (nee Johnston), age 95 years and 8 days, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born in Craighead County, AR on March 2, 1928 to the late Arthur and Lydia Ann Johnston (nee Winn), on a little farm in a community called Goobertown. She was the 8th of 12 children. She married Robert Lee Ogles on August 5, 1950; they were married for 62 years until his death in 2012. She is survived by a son, Jerry L. (Jane) Ogles of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pamela D. Ogles of Cape Girardeau; and a daughter-in-law, Theresa Ann Ogles of St. Charles, MO. Grandsons Mitchell L. (Julie) Ogles of Cape Girardeau; Richard L. (Amy) Ogles of Rogersville, MO; Matthew R. (Ashley) Ogles of Pelham, AL; and Andrew B. Ogles of Providence, RI. Great-grandchildren Chapman L. and Caroline M. Ogles of Cape Girardeau; Caden L. and Avery Lynn Ogles of Rogersville, MO; and Grayson M. Ogles of Pelham, AL. Brothers J. Edward Johnston of Jonesboro, AR; and Benny C. Johnston of Des Peres, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; one son, Jimmy M. Ogles; and 9 siblings: George S. Johnston; A. Gerald Johnston; Violet Marguerite Johnston; S. Naomi Johnston; L. Almeria Herman; Elmarie W. Herweck; Donald G. Johnston; Clara J. Johnston; and Stella J. Johnston. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Ogles was a 50-year resident of Cape Girardeau, and currently a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved cooking, gardening and traveling. She was a gifted seamstress and loved to play games. Her quick wit will be much missed. Her passion, though, was her family - they were the absolute light of her life. Services will be held on Saturday, March 18 at Ford & Sons Funeral Home on Mount Auburn in Cape Girardeau. Visitation will be at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 12:00pm. Burial will take place in Cape County Memorial Park.
