William James "Jim" Carver

William J. Carver, 65, of Mc Clure, IL, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born June 13, 1945 in Long Beach, CA to Melvin Ross and Ruth Maxine Fry. After moving from California at the age of 16, he lived with his father and loving step-mother Rita Mae Carver. He and Elizabeth Kay Livesay were married August 12, 1967 at Las Vegas, Nevada. He served in the United State Navy where he was a Sea Bee construction electrician in the Vietnam War. He was a life time member of V.F.W. Post 3838, Marine Corp League, Vietnow, American Legion Post 63 and Joint Veterans Council. Along with his comrades of the Vietnow they led the way in the construction and dedication of the Vietnam War Memorial located at the Common Pleas Courthouse in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO.He was very involved in the planning and over seeing of the 4 th of July Celebration held at Arena Park and all other events held by Veterans Mr. Carver was instrumental in the development of the Toys for Tots program at SEMO State University, where he worked as a operating engineer at the power plant for 19 1/2 yrs. He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church . Survivors include Wife - Elizabeth Carver, Mc Clure, IL Sons: James (Tonia Sissom) Carver, Jackson, MO and Mike (Amee) Carver, Cape Girardeau, MO Grandsons:- Andrew Carver, Austin Carver, Alan Carver and Noah Carver Step-Mother: Rita M. Carver, E. Cape Girardeau Il. Brother - Mark (Lisa) Carver, Cape Girardeau, MO Sister - Cathy Carver, California Sister - Cindy Drew, Everett, WA Sister - Debbie Baltzell, Springfield, MO Sister - Cyrstal Harsey, Du Quoin, IL He was preceded in death by Mother, Father and Friends may call 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Il with Full Military Honors by V.F.W. Post 3838 and the Missouri Honor Team.
