Robert Russell James

Robert Russell James, 78, of Cape Girardeau, MO, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at his home in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born, March 20, 1932 in Cape Girardeau, MO to J. Frank and Esther A. Siemers James. He and Marie A. Kirchdoerfer were married, April 19, 1955 at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral. He had been a member of the SEMO Districit Fair Association since age 16. Mr. James was a member and leader of the Campster 4-H. He was a member of St. Charles American Legion Post 312, VFW Post 3838 (lifetime member), Plasterers' Union #340, and Labor Union Local 1104. He worked on a dairy farm with John Fred Hartle at Jackson, then Clarence Sherrill at Cape and worked at Drury Company for 34 years. He was born and died on the same family farm in Cape County. Survivors include: Wife - Marie James, Cape Girardeau, MO Daughter, Ruth Sawyer (David), Garland, TX Daughter, Elizabeth Aufdenberg (Dennis) Burfordville, MO Son, Robert James, Jr. (Donna) Cape Girardeau, MO Son - Dennis James (Karen), Leopold, MO Son, Paul James (Sherry) Cape Girardeau, MO Daughter, Anita Essner (Mark) Kelso, MO Son, Ralph James (Monica) Jackson, MO Daughter, Angela Poindexter (Doug) St. Charles, MO Daughter - Sara Heuer (Jeff) Cape Girardeau, MO Son, Mark James (Julie) Jackson, MO Brother - John L. James, Cape Girardeau, MO Brother - Franklin James, Cape Girardeau, MO Brother - Donald James, Cape Girardeau, MO Brother - Earl James, Cape Girardeau, MO and 25 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe David James and two grandchildren, Elliot and Katrina James. Visitation wll be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish Prayers will be at 7:00PM. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 21, 2010 at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Tom Kiefer and Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with military rites by Missouri Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary Cathedral Education Foundation.
