Jason Watson

Michael Jason Watson, of Jackson, MO passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, November 28, 2025, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Jason was born on October 16, 1973, to Michael Tex and Dolores Welch Watson in Shreveport, Louisiana. He and Meg Baldwin were married September 2, 2000 in Jackson and together they had three amazing children, Ainsley, Colton and Cooper. Jason was a 1992 graduate of Jackson High School. He received a bachelor's degree in agriculture business from Southeast Missouri State University in 1997. He worked for Robinson Companies in Perryville, MO and served on The Friends of Saint Francis Board as well as a Jackson Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. Jason was an avid horseman, earning 4th place in Missouri High School Rodeo and National High School Finals Rodeo qualifier in bareback riding in 1992, and later enjoyed team roping with his father. Once his children became active in sports, Jason assisted coaching SEMO Smashers softball, as well as boys' baseball, basketball and football. Jason lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for his tenacious battle with cancer. His legacy lives on in the family and friends that he cherished, as well as the countless lives he touched along the way. Jason was a member of Connection Point Church. Survivors include his wife, Meg Watson of Jackson; three children, Ainsley, Colton and Cooper Watson of the home in Jackson; mother, Dolores Watson; one brother, Heath (Kim) Watson of Saint Louis, Missouri; three nephews, Jacob, Joshua and Caleb Watson and niece, Abigail Watson of Saint Louis, Missouri. Jason was preceded in death by his father, Mike; maternal grandparents, L.B. and Dorothy Welch of Shreveport, Louisiana; and paternal grandparents, Bill and Frances Watson of Denton, Texas. Visitation services will be held at Connection Point Church in Jackson on Friday, December 12 beginning at 2:00 pm with memorial service immediately following at 3:30 pm with Dr. Chris Vaught and Mr. Paul Findlay officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Francis Foundation. Ford & Sons Funeral Home - Mt. Auburn is in charge of arrangements.
