Lisa Reitzel

Lisa Jean Reitzel, 55, of Whitewater died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis. She was born Oct. 12, 1968, in Cape Girardeau to Larry Jean and Alice Faye Sawyer Hahn. She and Mark Reitzel were married July 25, 1992, in Marble Hill. She was a 1987 graduate of Woodland High School. She attended Wesley Bible College in Florence, Mississippi, for two years and then graduated from Southeast Missouri State University - College of Nursing in 1992. Lisa was a registered nurse at Silver Springs Surgery Center and has been the Cape Girardeau County Public Administrator since January 2013. She took very good care of her people. She enjoyed being with her granddaughter, Payton. She loved singing the National Anthem at various events, which included the Veterans Home Flag Day Golf Tournament, NRA Banquet, Special Olympics events, NACo conventions and many more. She especially loved being involved with Special Olympics and Veterans activities and loved being in many parades in the area. Lisa belonged to numerous organizations: Former Committee Woman on the Cape Girardeau County Republican Central Committee, MAPA (Missouri Association of Public Administrators), (Also past MAPA Regional Officer), Chairperson of the Alzheimer's Committee and member of the Legislative Committee, MAC (Missouri Association of Counties) At Large member of the Board of Directors of Missouri Association of Counties, steering committee for Policing/Justice/Mental Health, National Association of Counties (NACo) Vice chair for the Long-term Care Subcommittee, Rural Action Caucus, NACo ambassador, Board member Community Counseling Center Foundation, Member of Missouri Crisis Intervention Team (to help with Mental Health), Member of National Guardian Association (She was also in the process of getting certified to become a National Certified Guardian), member of Pursue your Passion, Very Active in Special Olympics, Cape Girardeau County Republican Women President, member of Jackson Noon Optimists, member of Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, member of Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Cattlemen's Association, Semo Cattlemens, Cape County Farm Bureau Board Member, East Missouri Action Agency, Former Delta Booster Club President, Relay For Life, American Heart Association, Walk for Alzheimers, MS Walks, Board Member of NRA, SEMO Pachyderm Club, and ADVOCATE FOR MENTAL HEALTH. She was honored for her service by receiving the following awards: Friends of the Farmer, Bill Emerson Award and Friend of NRA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delta where she was a life group leader and praise team leader. Survivors include her husband, Mark Reitzel of Whitewater; a daughter, Lydia Jean (Brady Perkins) Reitzel of Whitewater; parents, Larry and Faye Hahn of Scopus; a sister, Teresa (Tod) Thompson of Naples, Texas; a brother, Lance (Rebecca) Hahn of Scopus; a granddaughter, Payton Jean and another grandchild on the way; father- and mother-in-law, James and Barbara Reitzel of Whitewater; sister-in-law, Melissa (Kirk) Miller of Gordonville; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at First Baptist Church of Delta. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, at the church with the Revs. Randy Conn and Elijah Allen officiating. Burial will be at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Gordonville. Memorial contributions may be given to SEMO CIT Council (to help with local mental health issues) or Special Olympics of Southeast Missouri.
