Dennis Middleton

Dennis David "DD" Middleton, 70, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025 at his home. He was born June 16, 1954 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Willard W. and Geraldine O. (Jones) Middleton. After 25 years together, Dennis and Linda married earlier this year. Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Cape Central High School. From there, he went to work as a mechanic at Wiethop Truck Sales. In 1978, Dennis became the Customer Support Advisor (CSA) for Erb Equipment for 43 years, serving counties all the way to the Ozarks before retiring in 2021. During his time at Erb, he enjoyed meeting new people and building friendships that lasted decades. He was a member of the Elks for 39 years, serving as an officer, volunteer of the lake committee and he spent countless hours serving an organization that he loved. Dennis was an active man that enjoyed playing softball (with the Elks), golfing, fishing and hunting on the river. Dennis was a true "River Rat," being a member of the Honkers Boat Club and the Wittenberg Boat Club. He enjoyed his summers boating on the Mississippi, hanging out with the summer crew on the sand bar playing bocce ball and horseshoes. He loved the river so much that he stayed through the fall to hunt. His hunting buddies could tell you stories about those last 40 years! He dedicated many hours maintaining the perfect yard - not only his, but helping those he loved that may have needed the extra help. He even traveled often to his property in Ellington to maintain the grounds and relax for the weekend. Dennis was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. Survivors include his wife, Linda, of Cape Girardeau; brothers, Mike (Christy) Middleton of Texas, Keith Middleton of Oak Ridge, MO; son, Caleb Greenley of Cape Girardeau; granddaughter, Brynna Greenley of Cape Girardeau; nephews, Cayne Middleton of Oak Ridge, MO and Chad Middleton and Brett Middleton, both of Texas; niece, Kendra Hendrickson of Colorado; many great nieces and nephews. The loss of Dennis is noticed not only by all his family and friends, but by his garage cats, his dog Buddy Dean, and cats Gracie, Libby, and Cleo as well as his friends at The Pilot House.
