Carolyn LaFentres

Carolyn Ruth Faust LaFentres of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born July 18, 1936 in Cape Girardeau to Aleta and Delbert Faust. She graduated from Cape Central High School in 1954. Carolyn met and married the love of her life, Frank L. LaFentres at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau on January 15, 1970. He passed away April 28, 2017. Carolyn worked many years at Finney's Drug Store, Sunny Hill Pet & Garden, and VNA. Carolyn was a dedicated advocate for children as a CASA caseworker. She was known to most of Cape Girardeau as the Avon Lady. Carolyn was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include three sons, Justin W. LaFentres of Cape Girardeau, Jess C. (Jane) LaFentres of St Louis and James L. LaFentres of Poplar Bluff; daughter, Victoria J. (Billy) Joy of Lebanon, Missouri; sister, Judith (Edward) Wattles of Ramsey, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Vance LaFentres of Cape Girardeau, Theresa J. Kern of Missouri, Matthew LaFentres of St Louis, Emily LaFentres of St. Louis, Melissa H.Turner (Jason) of Tampa, Florida, Krista M. LaFentres of Kansas City, Missouri, Brandy K. Martinez-LaFentres of Jackson, Adrienne B. (Jeremy) Hyde of Jackson, Lincoln J. LaFentres of Poplar Bluff and Frank L. LaFentres of Poplar Bluff; eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister and brother-in-law, Liz and Ernest Farmer; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Carol Faust; and her beloved granddaughter, Heather Heartzell. Family is thankful for Crown Hospice staff who became family and treated Carolyn and family with so much love and compassion. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2025 and from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Monday, November 10, 2025 at Ford & Sons Mt Auburn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, November 10, 2025 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Mike Woelk officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
