    Theodore "Ted" Alton Elliott

    February 10, 1942 - June 9, 2022

    Theodore "Ted" Alton Elliott, 80, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born February 10, 1942 in Sumiton, Alabama to Roosevelt Elliott and Margaret Phillips Hill. He was raised by Hubert and Margaret Hill. He served in the United States National Guard. He was former insurance and real estate broker and nursing home administrator for over 50 years. When asked what his real job was in life he would always say "I'm a cowboy". He achieved the Sikeston Distinguished Service Award in 1971, lifetime member and past president of the Optimist Club in Sikeston, served on the SEMO District Boy Scout Board, volunteer with S.C.O.R.E., consultant for SBA Association and former Sikeston Jaycee Member, where he volunteered at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo for 48 years. He loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends, where he was lovingly known as "Tete" or "Tootie". He attended LaCroix Church in Cape Girardeau. Survivors include his wife of 25 years and caregiver the last three years, Nola Marylene Elliott of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Molly (Lucian) Zielinski of Cape Girardeau; son, John Dodgen of St. Charles, Missouri; five grandchildren, Candless (Corey) Campbell of Cape Girardeau, Saylor (Clayton) Hardesty of Cape Girardeau, Zachary Zielinski of Springfield, Missouri, Matthew Hahs of Pocahontas, Missouri and Macey Hahs of Pocahontas, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Asher Campbell, McKinley Campbell, Laney Hardesty and Bo Hardesty all of Cape Girardeau; sister, Alleen Eakers of Morehouse, Missouri; nephew, Corey (Shannon) McNew of Cape Girardeau; three nieces, Kathy Hammon, Theresa Eakers and Wissie Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melinda Hahs; son-in-law, Doug Miller; two brothers, Tommy Elliott and Sonny Elliott; and a sister, Mary "Liz" Elizabeth McNew. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories in Sikeston, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 .
