Ruby Lee Rice

Ruby Lee Rice, 98, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died April 18, 2022 in San Marcos, Texas. She was born March 25, 1924, in Birch Tree, MO to Chester Clyde and Eula Mae (Lemons)Spencer. She graduated with honors from Southwest Missouri State Teacher’s College in July, 1944, earning a bachelor of science degree in Education and a certificate in music. She taught business subjects at St. Clair High School and at Rolla High School. Ruby was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau for over fifty years and served in the Southeast Hospital Auxiliary. She and Daniel Paul Rice were married May 10, 1946, at St. Clair, Missouri. They enjoyed seventy years of marriage until death parted them in 2016. Shortly thereafter she moved to Texas to be nearer her children. She is survived by their three sons; Donald E. Rice and wife Sandra, of Houston, Texas; David A. Rice and wife Lynn, of Richardson, Texas; and Kenneth O. Rice and wife Jackie, of Wimberley, Texas; 5 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau. Memorial contributions may be given to College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO, or Southeast Hospice.
