    Roy L. Beck

    November 28, 1933 - February 10, 2022

    Roy L. Beck, 88, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Sikeston, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Southeast Hospital. He was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Sikeston, Missouri to the late Roy M. and Ethel M. Johnson Beck. Roy and Beverly Andres were married January 8, 1955, in Sikeston. Roy graduated from Sikeston High School in 1951, Draughn’s Business College, Paducah, KY in 1953. He attended classes at Southeast Missouri State University and Central Missouri State College, Independence, Missouri. He enlisted in the Missouri National Guard in July of 1953 and received an honorable discharge from the US Army Reserve July 31, 1961. Roy worked as marketing manager for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., now AT&T for 25 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. After retiring Roy was engaged in insurance, real estate, and private business for several years. Roy was a charter member of Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston. He was among the first Deacons ordained at the church and served from 1959-1963. He was currently a member at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape where he served in numerous capacities. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beverly Beck of Cape Girardeau; daughters, Linda (Rusty) Garrett of Russellville, Arkansas, Brenda Fisher of Hannibal, Missouri; grandchildren, Holly Garrett, Danielle (Cary) Fisher Perrin, Jennifer (Gabe) Fisher Dement, Andrew (Jaime) Fisher, Jessica Fisher; great grandchildren, KJ, Van and Molly Perrin, Karleigh and Tucker Dement, Russell Roy Fisher; 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norvell Beck, sisters, Lola Beck, Genevieve Beck, Edna King, Hazel Beck, Marzee Agee, Earline Parks; grandchildren, Nikki, and Brittany Garrett. Funeral service will be Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Lynwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Lynwood Baptist Church.
