Dr. Ray George Miller Jr.

Dr. Ray George Miller, Jr., age 95, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2022 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father Ray George Miller, mother Grace Luckey Miller and sister Dorothy Miller Marks. Ray was an accomplished educator, graduating from Jackson High School, receiving his B.S. degree from Southeast Missouri State University, Master's degree from SIU-Carbondale, and Ph.D. from St. Louis University. Ray was principal of Washington School and Franklin School in Cape Girardeau. In St. Louis, principal of Goodall School and Edgar Road School. Ray completed his career as Director of the International School of Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He served as President of the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals and on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Reality Therapy. Ray was a member of the St. Louis Shriners and volunteered at the Shriners Hospital for children and many other organizations. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Virginia Lee (Koch) Miller and children, Pamela (Philip) Luetkemeyer and Cynthia (Vincent) Falvo; his seven grandchildren, Lindsay (Ryan) Snyder, Jennifer (Joseph) Fletcher, Megan Anes, James (Samantha) Luetkemeyer, Michael Luetkemeyer, John (Erika) LaPresto, and Suzanne Falvo and 11 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cape County Memorial Park, Cape Girardeau by Reverend Ellen Gurnon of First Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life will be held late summer in Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children/St. Louis or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
