Joe D. Hornback, 73 of Jackson, Missouri passed away February 12, 2021 near Placida, Florida. He was born August 26, 1947 in Sikeston Missouri to Sidney and Virginia Lynch Hornback and graduated from Egyptian High School in Tamms, Ill in 1966. He was drafted by the Army 1966 and was sent Germany where he was trained in nuclear demolition. He was honorably discharged. He then retired from SWB/AT&T after 36 years. Joe and his wife Linda Creighton were married on February 12, 2003 in Las Vegas. They divided their time between Missouri and Florida 18 wonderful years. Joe was an avid hunter and saltwater fisherman and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his children and grandchildren and took great pride in preserving their trophies with taxidermy. Papa Joe, a true gentleman is greatly missed by his wife Linda Hornback of Jackson, Missouri; two sons, Mark (Rebekah) Hornback with grandsons Cooper and Jaxon of Oak Ridge, Missouri, Rhett (Christina) Hornback with grandsons Brayden and Colby of Fruitland, Missouri; step-son Shannon (Kristi) Wren with grand-daughters Lydia and Meredith and grandson Adam of Cape Girardeau; step-daughter Amanda (Mike) Powell with grandsons Ethan, Isaac and grand-daughter Evey of Jackson, Missouri; two brothers Jerry Hornback of Cobden, Illinois, Wayne Hornback of Plano, Iowa; three sisters, Shirley Birk of Cape Girardeau, Betty (Jim) Edwards of Tampa, Florida, Rita (Wayne) Wright of Bloomfield, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings There will be a private graveside service at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
