    Jerry Campbell

    December 22, 1938 - February 20, 2022

    Jerry Wayne Campbell, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, February 20, 2022 at St. Clair Hospital in Fenton, Missouri. He was born December 22, 1938 in Cape Girardeau to Silas E. and Augusta L. Rubel Campbell. He and Carolyn Sue Brown were married January 7, 1961. He graduated from College High School in 1956. He was employed with Blechle's Grocery as a delivery boy, while in high school. After graduation he was employed with Missouri Boat Construction, then Missouri Barge Line in Cape Girardeau. He also worked on Riverboats Elizabeth Ann & E.E Smith until entering the United States Army in December 1961 to November 1963. He was stationed with the 24th Infantry in Augsburg, Germany. After discharge he was employed with Missouri Dry Dock & Repair Company, retiring in February 2002 after 38 years. He was an avid bowler with various bowling leagues. His most proud night was when his Thursday Night Men's team was the District Champs. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue Campbell of Cape Girardeau; a son, Kevin Wayne (Marianne) Campbell of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Kevin Ryan Campbell of Springfield, Missouri and Sunni Michelle (Dylan) Stephens of Sikeston, Missouri; a special niece, Cindy (John) Schmoll of Cape Girardeau; five special nephews, Bruce (Alice) Benton of Jackson, Missouri, Tim (Joy) Benton of Nashville, Tennessee, Tom (Susan) Benton of Cape Girardeau, Alan (Christy) Benton of Cape Girardeau, Jeff (Mechelli) Campbell of Germantown, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Norma J. Campbell of Germantown, Tennessee; several great nieces, -nephews, cousins and close family friends; and his special kitty, Carly Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Langston; brother, Edward Campbell; and father- and mother-in-law, Lowell and Marie Crider Brown. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Ford & Sons Sprigg St. Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday, February 25, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery Bloomfield in Bloomfield. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
