    Frank Linn

    July 27, 1930 - June 15, 2022

    Dr. Frank J Linn, 91, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 27, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to George Linn and Ruth Julian Linn. He married Joanne Tindle on August 3, 1952 in Marshfield, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 30, 1990. He later married Charlene Jenkins Jones on March 3, 1992 in Cape Girardeau who survives of the home. In 1952 Frank received his Bachelor of Arts from Drury College (now Drury University). He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He spent the next two years proudly serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. Frank then began his teaching career in a small rural school district near Springfield, Missouri in 1955. He spent the next three years as an elementary principal followed by seven years as a high school principal. During those years he also taught a variety of classes. Upon completion of his studies at the University of Arkansas, Dr. Linn joined the education faculty at Southeast Missouri University. Dr Linn retired from Southeast as Professor Emeritus in August, 1993. Upon retirement he and Charlene traveled throughout Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Saint Francis Medical Center, and with his wife was a volunteer in Mission in Sitka, Alaska. He was a long time, active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Charlene, two daughters, Melinda Kaiser of Ozark, Missouri; Lisa Goodwin of Jackson, Missouri, step-daughter, Marylyn (Dan) Pirtle of Champaign, Illinois; sister, Kate Williams of Blue Springs, Missouri; five grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) Watson of Ozark, Missouri, Michael (Sarah) Goodwin of Jackson, Missouri, Edward M (Missy) Kaiser III of Springfield, Missouri, Jennifer Beussink of Jackson, Stacy (fiancé, Aaron Tolbert) Pearson of Cape Girardeau; two step-grandchildren, Kate (John) De Leon and Amy (James) Carey; sixteen great-grandchildren, Katy Anne, Hunter, Sawyer, Whitney, Chance, Brixton, Mylie, Tristan, Ronin, Sophie, August, Brooklyn, Jack, Samuel, Sophia, Emma; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife; and his parents; step-son, Craig Jones; son-in-law, Edward M. Kaiser Jr.; and brother-in-Law, Jack Williams. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau. Memorial Service will be follow at noon Friday, June 24, 2022 at the church with the Rev. Ellen Gurnon officiating. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 PM at the Bloomfield Missouri Veterans' Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Frank J Linn Scholarship fund at SEMO, Westminster Church, or charity of choice.
