    Doris Jean Taylor

    March 13, 1936 - February 10, 2022

    Doris Jean Taylor, went to her heavenly home on February 10, 2022. She was born March 13, 1936 in Elco, Illinois to Henry and Hazel Burchett Gearing. She married Don "Zach" Taylor on November 25, 1955. She was a stay-at-home mom for years as she lovingly raise their three children. After the death of her husband she worked as a cook for several years at Parkwood Manor and after that she cooked for 10 years at Southeast Hospital, retiring in 2003. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Salle) Taylor of Marble Hill, Missouri and David (Theresa) Taylor of McClure, IL; a daughter, Janet (Tom) Vandeven of Marble Hill, Missouri; a brother, Derald Gearing of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Amy (Lance) Tremaine of Ellington, Missouri, Terry (Cara) Taylor of Scott City, Missouri, Douglass (Chelsey) Taylor of Westfield, Illinois, Mike (Krista) Taylor of McClure, Illinois, Jennifer (Casey) Bloodworth of Marion, Illinois and Jon (Camie) Taylor of Oak Ridge, Missouri; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Monday, February 14, 2022 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with Brother Bobby Smithey officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Illinois . Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society, PO Box 28566, Saint Louis, MO 63146 or Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63132-3214.
