Carl Birmingham, 97, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Missouri Veteran's Home. He was born August 15, 1923 in Holcomb, Missouri to J.R. and Flossie King Birmingham. He was married to Imogene Mullins Birmingham, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Piggott Arkansas High School. He served in the Army in the Asian Theatre. After the war he settled in Poplar Bluff, where he worked for Department of Parks and Natural Resources for over 40 years. Upon his promotion to Construction Supervisor of Parks for the eastern region, he relocated to the Park Hills area until his retirement. He then relocated to his hometown of Piggott, Arkansas, where he was on city council. He enjoyed trout fishing, playing pitch and bluegrass. He was a member of Christian Church of Piggott, Arkansas and Masonic Lodge in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Survivors include three daughters, Jean French of Belton, Missouri, Joan (Joe) Rains of Holden, Missouri and Patti (Linn) Davault of Sikeston, Missouri; two sisters, Frankie Gibson of Piggott, Arkansas and Mary Steinbrook of Millstadt, Illinois; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and son-in-law, Stuart French. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.
