    Betty Jean Frierson

    July 22, 1942 - June 2, 2021

Betty Jean (Terry) Frierson was born July 22, 1942, in Benton MO to Dave and Lenora (Sanders) Terry. Betty left for her Heavenly Home from Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis on June 2, 2021. She committed her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau under the leadership of Pastor Cecil Thomas. While there she served as Financial Clerk. Betty was fondly known as “Auntie Betty” by all her nieces and nephews. She was the “best auntie ever”. She was fun loving and full of life with a smile that would light up a room. She would always enter the room smiling, singing and dancing. She gave off happy vibes to everyone around her. Betty worked at Southeast Missouri Hospital as a lab technician for 30 plus years. She loved her job and took much pride in her work. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving son, Gerald Hines of Aurora CO; step-children, Bruce Smith, and Regina Frierson; sisters, Genevieve Dockery of Cape Girardeau, Minnie Lee Taylor of Alton, IL and Patricia Cagle (Joe) of Caruthersville, MO; brothers, Dave Terry Jr. (Mary) of Cape Girardeau, Carl Hamilton (Ethel) of Sikeston, MO; sister-in-law, Odessa Ballard of Tamms, IL; granddaughters, Tekoa Hines of Cape Girardeau, Cierra Lin Brundige, Maggie Hines both of Aurora, CO and grandson, Shayne Jimenez of Aurora, CO; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends, too many to list. She also leaves to cherish her memories a best friend/sister-in-love Mary Terry who were friends since the age of 3. She loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her great-grandson, Joel was “the love of her life”. Joel had been living with “His Granny” since he was a baby, and they had a special bond. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sons Donald and Gregory Hines and his late wife, Lynette Hines; husbands, Sylvester Hines, and Jim Frierson; her soul mate of 20 years, Louis Nelson, a sister Ruby Marshall, two brothers, Rufus, and Steve Terry; brothers-in-law, Dan Marshall, Eulie Wigfall, Robert Taylor and Clarence Dockery. A Home-going celebration will be Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg St. Chapel with Pastor Cecil Thomas officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery. The family requests that those attending please wear a mask.
