Velma Pruitt

Velma Jean Pruitt, 78, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri graciously went to heaven on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born June 9, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Willie E. and Vernell (Graden) Rodenberry. She grew on a family farm in Egypt Mills with eight siblings. She and Harold R. Pruitt were married on January 30, 1966. As beloved mother and grandmother, she loved her family. She found joy in watching Nascar and working in her flowers and her yard. She took yearly trips to Yoders Greenhouse and helped her son in the garden, canning tomatoes. She loved taking ranger rides with her sons. Frequent lunch dates and shopping trips with her granddaughter. Her pride and joy were her four great-grandbabies, watching them grow. She was so proud of her sons and happy for them to live close to her. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills, where she was very active in church and serving others. Survivors include two sons, Mike (Paula) Pruitt of Cape Girardeau, MO, Kevin (Cheryl) Pruitt of Cape Girardeau, MO; granddaughter, Daisy (Jeremy) Patrick of Cape Girardeau, MO; four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Abigail,, Ellie, and Sadie Patrick of Cape Girardeau, MO; brother, Darrell (Cheryl) Rodenberry; six sisters, Linda Chapman, Joyce (Wendell) Miller, Brenda (Cal) Sherman, Mary (David) Dunlap, Patsy (Charlie) Goodpasture, Angela (Jim) Lunsford; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Rose) Pruitt Sr., Mike Pruitt; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; nephew, Daniel Hahn; sister, Phyllis Rodenberry. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills with the Rev. Rick Ronsick officiating. Burial will be at Thompson Cemetery in Egypt Mills.
