Robert "Bob" Arthur Wittenborn

Robert "Bob" Wittenborn, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Born on November 20, 1956 in Rockford, Illinois, Bob was the son of Charles Everett Wittenborn and Evelyn Ann Blechle Wittenborn. Bob graduated from Chester High School in 1974, where he excelled in football and baseball. His athletic achievements earned him All-Southern Illinois honors in baseball. He continued his education at Southeast Missouri State University, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Bob dedicated much of his professional life to Buzzi Unicem USA, where he worked for 33 years. He retired in April 2019 as Manager of Logistics and Barge Maintenance, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, leadership, and commitment and even had the honor of having a barge named after him, the Mr. Bob. He married Susan Ann Campbell on July 14, 1979 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Together they built a loving family and shared almost 47 years of marriage. Bob is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughter Jill (Mike) Uhrhan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and his son, Mark (Staci) Wittenborn of Benton, Missouri. He was a proud grandfather to Anna and Emma Uhrhran and Taylor, Cora, Mia, Jack, and Beau Wittenborn. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis (Dava Crump) Wittenborn of Punta Gorda, Florida; Brad (Michele) Wittenborn of Columbia, Missouri; Andy (LeeAnn) Wittenborn of West Lafayette, Indian; and Pat (Joyce) Wittenborn of Oak Ridge, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Lisa Wittenborn of Chester, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny (Barb) Campbell; as well as many beloved aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother James (Jay) Wittenborn; sister-in-law, Rhonda Wittenborn; and his parents in-law Kenneth (Rabbitt) and Joan Campbell. A faithful Catholic, Bob was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cape Girardeau and an active member of Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson, Missouri. Some of Bob's happiest memories were made coaching youth sports alongside his brother, Brad. Together they spent many years coaching Bob's son, Mark and his nephew Scott in soccer, baseball, and basketball. An avid golfer, Bob especially enjoyed his retirement years on the golf course with his friends and family, including many memorable golf trips. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family. He loved vacations to Destin, Florida, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching them swim. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his seven grandchildren grow, compete in sports, and create lasting memories together. Bob will be remembered for his devotion to family, his strong work ethic, his love of sports and golf, and the kindness and friendship he shared with everyone who knew him. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday, June 4, 2026 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am Thursday at the church with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Cape Girardeau. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or Notre Dame Regional High School.
