Richard Wayne Webb

Richard W. Webb, 87, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1937 in Waco, Texas to Richard M. and Gena Parmelee Webb. He and Carolyn Walthall were married July 1,1957 in Temple, Texas. A proud Texan, Richard, was deeply rooted in his home state and country music. He was a devoted husband and father. He retired from Procter & Gamble as a project manager after 32 years. He loved wood carving, watercolor, and pottery, finding joy in both the craft and the beauty of creating with his own hands. He was juried into the Best of Missouri Hands and a charter member of the Arts Council Coop. A dedicated volunteer, he gave his time and talents to strengthen his community. Some of the organizations he volunteered for included: The Boys and Girl Scouts of America, The Arts Council, The Cancer Society, Saint Francis Hospital, The Historical Society's Glenn House, The Sons of the American Revolution and his church La Croix of Cape Girardeau of which he was a member. If you ever caught sight of his collection of flashlights and pocketknives, you would know he had an appreciation for things that were practical, dependable, and built to last - much like he was. He will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Webb of Cape Girardeau; son, Rodney Webb of DeSoto, Texas; daughter, Christie (Bill) Shivelbine of Cape Girardeau; sister, Sondra (Joe) Blanford of Driftwood, Texas; sister-in-law, Sandra Wallace of Waco, Texas; nephew, Troy (Angie) Bolen of Austin, Texas; niece, Wendy (Dave) Tetens of Brooklyn, New York; grandchildren, Amanda (Jerry) Merryman of Cape Girardeau, Will (Randi) Shivelbine of DeSoto, Missouri, Taylor Shivelbine of Fenton, Missouri, Conner Webb of DeSoto, Texas, Caroline Webb of Arlington, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Merryman, Brooklyn Merryman, and A.J. Merryman of Cape Girardeau. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Richard L. Webb. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Sons of the American Revolution, Allen Laws Oliver Chapter 3248 Breckenridge Dr. Jackson, MO 63755.
