Judith Holcomb

Judith A. Holcomb, 81, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Monday, December 17, 2018 at her home. She was born March 11, 1937 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Otto and Mildred Ladreiter Hanschen. She graduated high school in Flat River, Missouri and then St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. She and John K. Holcomb, M.D. were married in 1959 at Flat River, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2016. She loved gardening, entertaining, golfing, tennis and traveling with her husband. She looked forward to spending a couple of winter months with John in The Villages community in Florida, where they enjoyed spending time with many close friends in a warmer climate. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her yummy dishes with friends and family. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a selfless soul always eager to give her time and support to anyone in need. She had a difficult time telling someone "no". She was volunteer for Stephen Ministry, Southeast Hospice, Red Cross, Meals On Wheels, and many other charities. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and started the walking program. Survivors include her one daughter, Lisa Cameron of Cape Girardeau; one son, Doug (Jeri) Holcomb of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Joshua (Cassi) Holcomb, Amber (Cole) Jansen, Katelyn (Andrew) Stiles, Clayton Holcomb, Chase (Brianna) Silvers and Amanda Cameron; two great-grandchildren, Weston and Hazel Holcomb; two nephews, Johnny (Kathryn) Kipp and Peter (Adrian) Kipp. She was preceded in death her parents; husband; one son, David Holcomb; and one niece, Jennifer Hamadi. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, December 21, 2018 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am Friday at the church with the Rev. Mark Martin officiating. There will be a private burial at Holcomb Family Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
