Harry D Hiett

Harry Delbert Hiett, 86, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday January 13th, 2024 at Lutheran Home Providence Hospice in Cape Girardeau, Missouri surrounded by his family. He was born October 10, 1937 in Delta, Missouri, the son of Dannie and Ruth Montgomery Hiett. He and Mary Ellen Snider were married May 28th, 1955 in Delta, Missouri and she preceded him in death on October 4th, 2007. He later married Helen Bannister of Cape Girardeau who survives him. Harry retired after 33 years of service from Missouri Utilities Company which is now Ameren. Following retirement from Ameren he was employed in sales part-time by Capetown RV. He was an active member of the Cape County Cowboy Church in Oak Ridge. Survivors include daughter Jan McFerron and her husband Steve Valliere, sons Randy (Garia) Hiett, Wayne (Pam) Hiett and Brad (Brenda) Hiett all of Cape Girardeau. Other survivors include grandsons, Derek (Suzanne) Hiett of Marble Hill, Ross (Alisa) McFerron of Cape Girardeau, Tanner (Aly) Hiett of Jackson, Josh Hiett of Cape Girardeau; granddaughters, Lindsey Medley of Cape Girardeau, Emily (Kyle) Alley of Cape Girardeau, Brittney (Lance) Rhodes of Carterville, Illinois; 13 great grandchildren; step-daughters, Janis (Randy) Roddy of Nevada, Texas, Judy (Paul) Patenaude of Midlothian, Texas; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Garnett and Carolyn Ossick of Athens, Georgia; sister-in-law, Eva Lou Black of St. Louis, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by sister, Pat Donaldson; brother, Doug Hiett; son-in-law, Kenny McFerron; step-son, Keith Bannister; infant son, Roger Lynn Hiett. Visitation will be at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home on Wednesday January 17th, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Reverend Eric Shrum officiating. Burial will occur at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau following the service. Pall bearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons Derek Hiett, Ross McFerron, Tanner Hiett, Josh Hiett, Hunter Hiett and Landen Hiett. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation (melanoma.org) or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital (stjude.org).
