Geraldine Rodgers

With her daughters by her side, Geraldine Masterson Rodgers, 85, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at her home in Cape Girardeau. She was born September 6, 1926 in New Madrid, daughter of Jack and Florence Mast Masterson. She and John Wiley Rodgers were married on August 22, 1946, in New Madrid, Mo. They had been married 59 years when he passed away February 4, 2006. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jean (Richard) Harmon, Liberty Township, Ohio; Jo Ann Hearnes and Linda Underdown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She worked for Sears in Cape Girardeau and Target in Houston Texas. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau. She loved to travel and be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a die-hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the North Carolina Tarheels men�s basketball. Other survivors include two sisters, Nadine (Pete) Vent, New Madrid and Carolyn Vent, Parma, Missouri; one brother Paul (Carrell) Masterson, Murfreesboro, TN; two grandsons, John Robert (Jamie) Hearnes, Murfreesboro, TN; David (Hallie) Hearnes, Knoxville, TN; two granddaughters, Angela (Ronnie) Aber, Ft. Thomas, KY; Geri (Tyler) McKellar, Wickliffe, OH; six great grandchildren, Joshua Wiley Hearnes; Caroline Elizabeth Moore; Graysen Douglas Aber; September Grace McKellar; Jackson Caleb Hearnes; and Joseph Douglas Aber and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one son, John Wiley Rodgers Jr; two sisters, Margaret Davis and Maxine Barron; three brothers Jackie Masterson, William Masterson and Jimmie Lee Masterson. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau and again on Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at the New Madrid Pentecostal Church in New Madrid, MO. Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Friday, August 17, 2012 at New Madrid Pentecostal Church in New Madrid with the Rev. Darrell E. Faire Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau, MO, or St. Jude Research Hospital
