Edna Lou Ziegler

Edna Lou Ziegler, 84, of Midlothian, Texas, formerly from Cape Girardeau, MO passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at her home in Midlothian, Texas surrounded by her husband and daughters. She was born September 30, 1940 in Hayti Mo to Anna Mae Shelby and Nathanial "Nick" Downing. She and Richard A Ziegler were married at Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville Mo on October 6, 1962. She attended Nursing School in Memphis TN and was a registered nurse working in her early years at St Francis Medical Center and later as a Oncology nurse in Texas. She was an extremely talented quilter, crotchier and also enjoyed painting. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Aloysius Ziegler as well as four daughters; Milissa (Scott ) Culbertson and Beth Soltis, both of Port Charlotte, Florida; Kristina (Gerhardt) Perry of Port Kent, New York; Allison (Curtis) Huckstep of Midlothian, Texas. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren; Corey, Chelsea & Christian Culbertson, Olivia & Otto Soltis, Chandler & Maddie Perry, Trista, Paige & Hayden Huckstep. One great grandson; Wrenn Poe. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and their families; David Ziegler of Cape Girardeau Mo, Debbie (Ziegler & God daughter) (Tim) Beussink of Gordonville, Mo; Josh (Tara) Beussink, Amzie & Kenna; Nathan (Emily) Beussink; Cameron & Anniston; Kevin & Sheila (Beussink) Ziegler of Gordonville MO; Brianna (Kevin) Dittlinger & Devin Ziegler; Cathy (Ziegler) Welter of Jackson, Mo; Kaitlynn Hoffenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers - Jerry, Lee and Billy Joe Downing. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law - Leo & Lorena (Felter) Ziegler. Her brother-in-law and sister-in-law - Donald & Martha (Westrich) Ziegler and sister-in-law and brother-in-law - Wanda (Ziegler) & Charles Holland. Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm with parish prayers at 6:00 pm followed by the Rosary lead by the Knights of Columbus at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Requiem Mass will be Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery following the mass.
