In Loving Memory of Dennis Pat Brazel, July 5, 1946 - October 18, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved father, husband, grandfather, proud U.S. Army veteran, dedicated railroad worker, Masonic Mason, city council member, and devoted member of LaCroix Church, Dennis "Pat" Brazel, 77 years old, of Scott City, Missouri. He left this world on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Pat was a loving father to two children, Eric Brazel (Brandon) and Erin Gloth (Jimmy) and a doting grandfather to five adoring grandchildren, Mary-Cameron, Carly, Zach, Jackson, Caroline. He leaves behind a sister Jodie McKee, brother Mike Brazel (Donna), sister-in-law Nita Brazel, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Homer Ray Brazel Senior and mother, Dorothy Jeanette Brazel. Also leaving this earthly life before him were his siblings, Homer Ray Brazel, Gladys Kinsall, Jean Williams, and Dick Brazel. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His wisdom, guidance, and boundless love have left an indelible mark on their lives, and his memory will be a source of comfort and inspiration. For 53 years, Pat Brazel was the devoted and loving husband of his soulmate, Caroline Brazel. Their union was a shining example of commitment, partnership, and enduring love. Their love story was one of steadfast support, laughter, and shared dreams. Their bond will continue to serve as a beacon of love for all. As a proud member of the U.S. Army, Pat Brazel served his country in the Vietnam War, immediately following graduation from Illmo-Scott City High School. His service reflected his patriotism and unwavering dedication to the principles of freedom and democracy that our nation holds dear. After 37 years of dedicated service to the Burlington Northern Railroad, Pat retired where he also served as the Local Chairman. Pat Brazel served as the Worship Master during his 50-year membership in the Masonic Lodge which exemplified his commitment to moral values and brotherhood. He was also a member of the Scott City Council, where he worked diligently to improve the lives of the community members. Pat Brazel was a fiercely loyal friend and family member. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was known as the "glue" of his family and the life of the party. While we mourn the loss of Dennis Pat Brazel, we also celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love, service, and devotion. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to be better, more compassionate, and dedicated individuals. Pat's visitation will be Sunday, October 22 from 4-7pm at Ford and Sons Funeral Home, Mt Auburn location in Cape Giardeau, MO A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Monday, October 23 at 12pm, noon, at Ford and Son's Funeral Home, Mt Auburn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to LaCroix Church, Cape Girardeau or Scott City Schools Childrens Fund in his honor.
