Minister David Lyons

Minister, David L. Lyons, 66, lived a full life filled with Christ, Family and Love. After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, David, was called home to be with the Lord the morning of April 14, 2019. David was born on August 5, 1952, in Charleston, Mississippi to the late James Lyons and Mary "Maelee" Brock Lyons. He was the 7th child among 15 brothers and sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Lyons, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three children by his late wife, Jennifer Lyons, who preceded him in death in 2007, Jessica Lyons, Jennyce Lyons and Jamie Brown (Patrick) all of St. Louis, Mo.; one Step-Son, Barrett Swan of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Jailon Lyons, Patrick Jr., Preston, Phoenix and Phoena Brown; five step-grandchildren, Alexi Brown, Barrett Jr., Brianna and Chance Swan and Shaniyah Carter; four brothers, James Lyons, Texas, Andrew Lyons, Jefferson City, Mo., Solo and Jerry Depree of Cape Girardeau. Mo.; five sisters, Lille Foster (Robert), Mary Carter (Willie), Rosemary and Alice Depree all of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Shirley Hagar of Detroit, Michigan; two uncles, George Brock (Lorraine) of St. Louis, Mo. and Spencer Lyons (Terri) of Detroit Michigan; one aunt, Olean Pittman (LP) Detroit, Michigan. David was employed by St. Francis Medical Center of Cape Girardeau, Mo., as a Same Day Surgery Van Driver from March 15, 2016 until his illness in May 2018. David served his country in USMC as an Air Traffic Controller from June 1972 to January 1975 where he received an Honorable Discharge. David loved working with his hands and worked as an auto mechanic for Sears Dept. Stores and Robinson Shell and Easton Tire Co. David started working for Federal Mogul Manufacturing in 1979 and worked in many position, from Machine Operator, Supervisor, Superintendent, Process Manager, Production Manager and Manufacturing Manager. He worked hard and was able to help many people with their careers up until the plant closed in 2007 and moved to China. David and his wife Mary were able to make one of their passions a reality and opened their own business, Lyons Bar-B-Q from 2010-2013 in St. Louis, Mo. David professed Christ at the age of thirteen. He joined First Baptist of Ballwin in 1982 and was Ordained as a Deacon in 2007 and served until 2016 when he was called to become a Minister of the Word. He was loved because he gave love freely and will be missed deeply. Family and friends in Cape may pay their respects Saturday, April 20, at Ford and Sons Funeral Home on South Sprigg St., from 3-7 pm. The funeral will be in St. Louis, Mo. with the Viewing will be 9:30-10:30 am and the funeral 10:30-12:30 at First Baptist of Ballwin, 206 Ries Road, Ballwin, Mo. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Repass will be at First Baptist of Ballwin in St. Louis Mo.
