Anita G. Borchelt

Anita Glee Borchelt, 88, of Egypt Mills, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2025 at her home. She was born on March 13, 1937 in Zalma, Missouri to Archie Clyde and Stella (Stephens) Wilkinson, the twelfth of thirteen siblings. Immediately after graduating from Zalma High School in 1955 she moved to Cape Girardeau and began working as a switch board operator for Southwestern Bell. She continued working there until 1962. She and Herbert Eugene Borchelt were united in marriage on September 29, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Egypt Mills. He preceeded her in death on Oct 1, 2010. She was a longtime and faithful member of Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church, Egypt Mills. Anita is survived by one son, Dan Borchelt, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey and one daughter, Gaye Puchbauer and husband Mark of Jackson, Missouri along with two grandchildren, Leah Puchbauer of Perryville, Missouri and Ethan Puchbauer of Auburn, Alabama. She is also survived by two sisters-in-laws, JoAnn Wilkinson of Godfrey, Illinois and Maxine Wilkinson of Scottsbluff, Nebraska along with many nieces and nephews across the United States. She was preceeded in death by four brothers, eight sisters, two nieces, two nephews, one great niece and three great nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 8 at Ford & Sons-Mt Auburn from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Monday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Matthew Brooks officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, March 11 at 10:00 am at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Pastor Steven Theiss officiating. In lieu of flowers the family kindly suggests memorials, if desired, be given to the Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church Maintenance Fund, the Bloomfield Assistance League of the Missouri Veterans Cemetery which goes towards enhancing the overall appearance and operations of the cemetery or a charity of your choice.
