Verena Christina Felter

Verena Christina Felter, 92, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Saturday, March 29, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. She was born September 22, 1932 in Cape Girardeau to August and Katherine Mary Pingle Blechle. She and Charles William Felter were married November 15, 1952 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. Verena was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 1111 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved supporting and cheering on her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids at their various sporting events and other activities. She enjoyed watching all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Verena was a very talented quilter and enjoyed making baby quilts for loved ones. She had a love for angels and enjoyed making and collecting angel figurines. She had an impressive sweet tooth, but would never pass up sour cream and onion potato chips. She was happiest surrounded by her loud and boisterous family and made it known through her "love and prayers." Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Charles William Felter, Sr.; five daughters, Sandie (Kenny) Suhre, Debby (Butch) Baker, Carol Bragg, Laura (August) Ritter and Mary Beth Felter; a son, Steven (Leslie) Felter; daughter-in-law, Pamela Felter; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Blechle and Florence Lewis; 19 grandchildren, Dustin (Sara) Baker, Katie (Kelly) McElrath, Gabriel (Ryan) Dewrock, Sarah Felter, Amber Voerg, Ashlie (Jami) Voerg, Chelsea (Jordan) Marbain, Kyle (Jessica Ashworth) Suhre, Deakon Bragg, Lance Felter, (Chris Beck), Kaitlen (Caleb) Stewart, Tina (Branden) Boyher, Erica (Chris) Plorin, Graham (Taylor) Ritter, Allison (Axle Davis) Martin, Stephanie (Aaron Darby) Felter, Evan (Caroline) Ritter, Landon Felter, and Kendall Felter; and 29 great-grandchildren, Abby and Mitchel Baker, Alayna, Lillian, Rosalie, Eleanor, and Everett McElrath, Evelyn and Ellie Dewrock, Connor Purcell and Miles Voerg, Eli and Brody Marbain, Frank Ward and Ava Suhre, Brinley and Bryson Beck, Emerson Stewart, Alexis Bell and Gunner Suhre, Samuel and Benjamin Plorin, August and Laurel Ritter, Jayce and Remington Davis, Zane Arnold, Eleanor Ritter, and another great granddaughter on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles W. "Chuck" Felter, Jr.; son-in-law, Bo Bragg; two grandchildren, Alex Voerg Beck and Daulton Ezra Bragg; and three brothers, Jerome (Beth), Paul (Pam), and Earl Blechle. Friends may call from 11 am to noon on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. Funeral Mass will follow at noon Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the church with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date.
