Barbara Wallace

Barbara Louise Wallace, 87 was welcomed into her Savior's arms on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at her home in Cape Girardeau surrounded by family. She was born February 9, 1931, daughter of Harry and Lillian Gluckhertz. She married Farris Wallace November 21, 1947. He passed June 26, 2004. She was a member of First General Baptist Church, where she cooked and served faithfully for the church family every Wednesday night. She served in other capacities, including Sunday morning greeter, substitute teacher, volunteered for women's groups and was instrumental in restarting the Joy group. Barbara Louise served in every volunteer position for the Cape Nutrition Center, including board member. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Silver Haired Legislative Committee and worked the voter polling booths. After serving her faith, she served her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children. Surviving are five children, Farris "Buddy" (Eileen) Wallace, Cindy (Keith) Robertson, Sue (John) Mohorc, Patty Langston and Lisa (Gary) Helle; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Laura (Raymond) Moore; brother-in-law, Bill (Pat) Wallace; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Harry Jr. and Charles; half sister, Drusilla; and two granddaughters, Mary Catherine and Erin Elizabeth Robertson. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, May 18, 2018 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First General Baptist Church, 1813 Cape La Croix, Cape Girardeau. Service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the church, with the Revs. Sam Ramdial and Jim Rudolph officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery.
