A notice to our families

Information on Funerals and COVID-19

Dear Families of Cape Girardeau County, Southern Illinois, Perry County and surrounding communities:

Our company has served this region for over 70 years. Prior to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, the safety of your family and friends has always been our number one priority. At this point, there has been no direction from any local government or regulatory source that funeral services, visitations or celebrations of life should be cancelled.  We will remain open and our experienced, caring staff will be available to help, as well as respond to calls when a death occurs.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is taking proactive measures to help prevent the potential virus and keep our facilities safe and ready to serve families. We have taken the following actions:

  • Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection in our public areas, with special attention to high touch items.
  • Additional hand sanitizers have been placed in the lobby and throughout the funeral home.
  • We suggest that guests minimize direct contact, such as shaking hands or physical contact.
  • We ask that those experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms avoid visiting Ford and Sons Funeral Home at this time.
  • You may support families via online guest book and obituaries on our website at www.fordandsonsfuneralhome.com
  • We prefer to make arrangements via phone and email. If that is not an option for your family and we need to make arrangements in person we ask that only one to two family members who are not experiencing any flu like symptoms meet us at the funeral home at a scheduled time.
  • As of April 1st our office will continue with normal business hours (M-F 8-4; Sat 8-Noon; Sun- appt. only) but our doors will remain locked in order to limit the flow of traffic and help protect our staff. Should you need to meet with us in person we will require an appointment. Please call us at 573-334-1313.
  • Missouri’s Governor and health professionals recommend gatherings of 10 people or fewer. We suggest, but do not require that visitations and services be limited to immediate family and close friends.

We have closely been monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and will take actions necessary to help keep our staff and community safe. We will continue providing important services during this critical time.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us 24 hours a day at 573-334-1313.

Thank You,

Kevin Ford
