Truman F. Waldrup, 88, of Cape Girardeau entered Heavens Gates on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012 at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau

He was born May 5, 1924 in Des Moines , Iowa to Alvin Chester and Lulu Vesta Niswonger Waldrup. He and Esther Shirrell were married June 20, 1948 at First Church of God in Cape Girardeau , with the brides Grandfather, J. H. Shirrell officiating. 

Truman was a sergeant  in the U.S. Air Force serving 3 years during World War II, participating in the South Pacific and the occupation of Japan being a radio operator on a B-24 Bomber. 

He was a journeyman electrician for 10 years and worked for Cape Ready Mix, Rose Con Pipe and Rose Concrete for a combination of 33 years. 

He was member of Breakfast Optimist, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Jaycee’s, Eagle Scout, Unity Quartet and First Church of God being a sunday school teacher, superintendent, choir director, treasuer and board member. Truman’s love for sports and the outdoors included bowling, tennis, golf, hunting, gardening (especially tomatoes), fishing with anyone that would go anytime and ran the Boston Marathon at age 62. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, a son, Truman “Butch” Waldrup II, of Dexter , MO. a daughter, Cindy LeGrand, of Kelso , MO.    2 brothers, Raymond Waldrup of Kelso, MO.Cecil Waldrup of Springfield , Mo.   1 sister, Jo Ann George of Houston , TX . 4 grandchildren, Truman III, Whitney, Brian, and Blake, 7 greatgrandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and  1 sister. 

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM  Thursday, May 31, 2012 at at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Funeral will be at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev, Cecil L. Waldrup and Rev. Ronald E. Knapp officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Team. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to First Church of God Building Fund at  500 Emerald Street , Cape Girardeau , MO. 63701 or given to Ford and Sons Funeral Home.
