Irene Thomas, 90, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie.

She was born July 15, 1921 in Cape Girardeau, to James Alfred and Ollie Lorene McLain Allen.

Irene was a cook on riverboats for 22 years.

She had lived in Marshall County, Kentucky for 28 years and moved to Port St. Lucie in 1997 from Benton, Kentucky.

Survivors include one son, Leslie J. Thomas of Port St. Lucie; one sister, Judy Sams of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters, Sandy Thomas-Freudenthal and Angela J. Thomas of Port St. Lucie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Anna Louise Jackson.

Friends may call 5:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Bill Vincent officiating.

Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
